Hello everyone! Welcome to Blonde Girl Writing Blog, where I share about faith, writing, and reading.
Today I have the enormous honor of helping Kara Swanson spread the word about her book, Ignite! After months of waiting, tons of hard work, lots of reading of the ARCs, and writing all those reviews, Ignite is finally out today!
In case you've been living under a rock for a while and have no idea what Ignite is, here's a little blurb for you:
Can Mara survive in a world where the fire in her veins is worth killing for? In a frozen wasteland suffocating beneath a dying sun, Mara is a young phoenix raised by her father to explode at his command. He’s the only one who can help her control her fire, and Mara desperately follows his orders to protect their phoenix family from relentless human hunters. Her sheltered existence is shattered when her family mysteriously vanishes, thrusting Mara into a perilous quest to find them. Along the way, she unravels a devastating truth: her people may not be the innocent victims she's been taught to believe. When she comes face-to-face with the kindhearted Eli, she begins to wonder if the humans aren’t the monsters she's always feared. What if the greatest danger doesn’t lie in the icy world outside—but in the truth of who Mara really is? Fire and ice collide in this thrilling tale of a phoenix girl born with the power of a dying sun. Ignite, Kara Swanson
And not only is the writing beautiful and the messages wonderful, but there's also THIS gorgeous cover with Mara front and center:
So yeah! I highly recommend Ignite; it's all about not being afraid of yourself and stepping into who you are. We might not relate to Mara on a physical level (I doubt any of us have fire in our veins or live on a planet with a dying sun) BUT her coming-of-age story about "igniting" into who you are is very relatable.
You might be wondering--where can I buy this amazing book? Well I'm glad you asked! You can buy Ignite on Amazon or Barnes & Noble (although they only have eBook and Audiobook versions).
Well, thanks for reading today! And thank you especially for being willing to support Christian authors who are writing to serve God and love on others.
Let me know below: What do you think of Ignite? Have you preordered it yet? What excites you most about it?
Best wishes,
Jonah
